Government

For government

Government policy and planning for wireless rollout is being framed at all levels – from national to regional, across cities, towns and countries. But no two needs are the same and no two solutions are the same. How do you make the right decisions?

The challenge

More and more councils and local authorities are seeing the benefits of installing wireless systems for public use and to ease pressure on cellular networks. National governments need to review spectrum usage and demand to understand the spectrum needs of different sectors, and the social and economic contributions which they are able to make based on their spectrum usage in order to deliver maximum benefit from the country’s spectrum assets. At all levels of government there is a need to understand how deployment of technologies such as Wi-Fi 4G LTE, 5G and LTE could work and at what cost. To understand areas such as interference modelling, capacity management and future license terms.

How we can help

We have assisted all levels of government to address these challenges. We worked with the UK’s Newcastle City Council as expert advisors in a deal to install free Wi-Fi across key public areas, assessing what the requirements for the tender process should be, comparing bids and assisting in the assessment of bids against requirements.

For the first in a series of reports on UK Spectrum Usage and Demand from the UK Spectrum Policy Forum report, Real Wireless was commissioned to provide a snapshot of current spectrum usage, as well as calculating the expected long-term future needs of the major users of spectrum in the UK.

Real Wireless has also worked on a project for the Scottish Government on 4G coverage – how this affects the economy and the policy implications, consulting with operators and other industry players to understand their plans.

We have assisted government at local, regional and national level to understand the wireless needs and challenges of the present and longer term and frame policies to deal with them.

You need to understand and address wireless needs and challenges for the benefit of your citizens.

You need Real Wireless. Making wireless work for government.
